Naturopathic Medicine

A naturopathic approach to women’s health targets the root cause of the problem by addressing all three components of the Triad of Health.

What Is Naturopathic Medicine?

Generally speaking, a naturopathic approach to healing focuses on natural remedies to bring the physical, psychological, and nutritional components of the Triad of Health into balance. The goal is to identify and treat health issues at the source.

At Natural Healthcare Center, naturopathic medicine is focused on women’s health. Through naturopathic consultations, we dive deep into understanding your menstrual cycle, hormones, and their role in your overall health. This enables us to develop a personalized protocol and wellness plan, which may include nutritional counseling, lifestyle counseling, professional-grade supplements, and/or additional laboratory testing.

All recommendations are based on your individual concerns and short- and long-term goals and developed in collaboration with your medical providers and our team of clinicians.

Why Is Naturopathic Medicine Important?

From the moment girls enter puberty, they are told over and over that the things they’re experiencing are just a part of being a woman. For example, painful periods are normal and acne and irregular cycles can be fixed with birth control pills. Women’s symptoms are masked for years, resulting in bloating, hair loss, lack of energy, low sex drive, and other issues.

Hormones have a direct impact on everything from brain function and energy to skin clarity and weight. When hormones are in balance and functioning at an optimal level, you feel better in every area of your life.

Naturopathic medicine focuses on painting a full picture of your hormonal health, understanding why you don’t feel like yourself, and correcting hormonal imbalance. You’ll gain the knowledge needed to make better nutritional and lifestyle choices so you feel better, function better, and live longer.

What Conditions Can Be Supported with Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine can be used to support a wide range of women’s health issues, including but not limited to:

  • Acne
  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • Heavy bleeding
  • Excessive facial/body hair
  • Hair loss
  • Breast tenderness
  • Fertility issues
  • Weight gain
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Mood swings
  • Insomnia
  • Low libido
  • Anxiety
  • Depression

How Does Naturopathic Medicine Fit into Our Integrative Model of Care?

Naturopathic medicine personifies Natural Healthcare Center’s integrative approach by promoting natural healing that addresses the cause of the problem rather than masking symptoms.

Your initial appointment will review your health history and lifestyle factors such as nutrition, sleep habits, stress levels, energy levels, and physical activity. The more information we have, the better equipped we will be to explain what you’re experiencing and offer personalized recommendations to help you achieve your goals.

Did You Know…

The term “naturopathy” was coined in 1885 by Dr. John Scheel, a German practitioner, and the first school of naturopathy was founded in New York City by Dr. Benjamin Lust in 1902. The rise of pharmaceutical drugs in the 1940s caused naturopathic medicine to decline, but the desire for natural solutions and healing during the past 20 years has led to a renaissance for naturopathic medicine in the US.
