Jennifer became a Nurse Practitioner after enduring a personal family crisis when her then 10- year-old daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy that resulted in her having nearly 100 seizures a day. After nearly five years of long hospital stays, hair and memory loss, and missed teenage experiences; Jennifer began researching both pharmacological and homeopathic modalities to help treat this rare condition.
Jennifer found that CBD oil applied to her daughter’s feet at bedtime, combined with newer antiepileptics, and diet modifications helped keep the seizures at bay. She believed that becoming an APN would serve as a valuable tool in ensuring her daughter’s health as advocate and mother.
Today, Jennifer’s daughter is healthy and seizure free with the help of both medications and homeopathic remedies; she is working full-time and finishing a certification in nutrition and health.
Jennifer diagnoses and manages acute, chronic, and complex health conditions throughout the lifespan while applying evidence-based practices and research skills. She is an advocate of healthy lifestyles and disease prevention; as well as actively provides education and counseling to individuals facing health crises.
Prior to becoming an APN, Jennifer worked as a registered nurse and clinical educator in the hospital setting with 18 years of experience in the medical/surgical units, hemodialysis, trauma ICU, organ procurement, and labor and delivery.
Today, Jennifer’s advanced degree and experience has given her the autonomy to include patients in their plan of care which will address the patient as an individual and not just their condition. Her experience has demonstrated that patients are willing to engage in their care and explore adjunctive treatments as a patient-provider team through active listening and exposure to conventional and unique interventions.
