Cox Technic Spinal Decompression: Heavily Researched, Tremendously Effective

March 28, 2018

There are very few things that change how a practitioner treats patients. Cox Technic Flexion Distraction and Decompression therapy has been one of those rare game-changers for me. That’s why I’ve invested so heavily in Cox Technic equipment.

I can say without reservation that Cox Technic is by far the best chiropractic technique for treating certain conditions that might otherwise require epidurals and surgery. These conditions include but are not limited to disc herniations, bulges and degeneration, spinal stenosis, pelvic pain, arm pain, leg pain (sciatica), headaches and scoliosis.

To be clear, Cox Technic is not for everyone requires a spinal diagnosis, often through x-ray or MRI, and patients have to qualify to become a candidate for spinal decompression. However, having these tools (three Cox8 Tables) and heavily researched protocols in the Natural Healthcare Center shed is a tremendous benefit for our patients.

What Is Cox Technic?

Developed by Dr. James Cox, Cox Technic Flexion Distraction is a gentle, non-surgical form of spinal decompression performed on a specially designed instrument, or table. Different parts of the Cox table can be adjusted to treat specific areas.

We use this science-based technique to gently decompress the spine and reduce pressure on the discs between the bones in your spine, or vertebrae, for an extended period of time. By decompressing the spinal column and increasing the disc height between the vertebrae, we allow healing to occur.

Cox Technic also enables us to restore normal motion in the spinal joints for patients with painful conditions such as facet syndrome, spondylolisthesis, sprain/strain, scoliosis, transitional vertebra, sacroiliac restrictions and misalignment, and certain types of spinal stenosis. Patients often experience less pain, improved range of motion, reduced pressure on nerves, increased circulation and better posture.

The Cox Technic form of spinal decompression is manual. We don’t strap you into a machine and press a button. We use a specific protocol based on your condition and work closely with our clinicians here at Natural Healthcare Center, as well as orthopedic doctors and neurosurgeons in the local community, to develop customized treatment plans.

Mountains of Research Prove the Effectiveness of Cox Technic

Dr. Cox developed Cox Technic in the 1960s, documented his own clinical observations, and formed a group of colleagues to do the same. Dr. Cox and a number of clinicians had their findings published in medical journals for decades. In the 1990s, grants were offered to fund even more research.

Most patients show 30-50 percent improvement within two weeks, and patients require an average of just 29 days and 12 visits to achieve “maximum improvement.” If you go to the Cox Technic website, you’ll find hundreds of articles, videos, case studies, books and research studies involving Cox Technic, making it one of the most well-researched chiropractic techniques in existence.

Again, Cox Technic isn’t for everyone, and you can’t call and book an appointment for Cox Technic like you would for a massage. That said, if you’re dealing with any kind of pain, it shouldn’t be ignored. That pain is an alarm going off to tell you something is wrong. Come see us so we can identify the root cause and attack it at the source.
